July is Fibroid Awareness Month, making it an important time to shine a light on uterine fibroids and the women whose lives are impacted by them. Recently, I had the opportunity to attend A Night in White, the signature fundraising gala of The White Dress Project, and it was an evening centered around empowerment, advocacy, wellness, and community.
As the centerpiece of The Empowerment Experience, a three-day event dedicated to educating and supporting women impacted by uterine fibroids, A Night in White brought together advocates, healthcare leaders, public figures, and supporters who are committed to advancing women's health and health equity.
The evening was both elegant and impactful, celebrating the leaders and changemakers who are helping to create greater awareness and access to care. This year's honorees included Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o, Necole Kane, U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks, and other influential leaders making a difference in women's health.
Beyond the glamour of the evening, the gala highlighted the importance of continued advocacy and access to resources. Uterine fibroids affect millions of women, yet many continue to face challenges when it comes to diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Events like A Night in White help bring these conversations to the forefront while creating opportunities to support women directly.
Proceeds from the event benefit the White Dress Cares Patient Fund, which helps women overcome financial barriers to diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Knowing that the evening directly supports women who may otherwise struggle to access the care they need made the experience even more meaningful.
The Empowerment Experience is a reminder that awareness is only the beginning. Through education, advocacy, wellness, and community, women are being empowered to better understand their health and advocate for the care they deserve.
Attending A Night in White was a beautiful reminder of the power of bringing people together for a purpose. From celebrating influential women to supporting an important cause, the evening was filled with style, inspiration, and meaningful conversations about the future of women's health.
As we recognize Fibroid Awareness Month this July, it is important to continue educating ourselves, sharing resources, and supporting organizations working to improve the lives of women impacted by uterine fibroids.
Because when women are informed, supported, and empowered, the impact reaches far beyond one evening.
