Foot Detox at Heal Thyself Atlanta

Today I had the opportunity to get a Foot Detox at Heal Thyself Atlanta that was administered by the owner Lala Huseynova. This was the perfect way to start off April, I'm determined to do better by my body and I learned a lot today. Below is the full run down about my experience.

What is a foot detox
?
A foot bath that remove toxins from your body right through your feet. At Heal Thyself Atlanta services start at $35

What are the benefits? Since the feet are rich with nerve endings and sweat glands, its the ideal place in the body to detox and de-stress.  By doing a foot detox here are a few of the benefits you will feel.
  • Purging of heavy metals
  • A more balanced pH level
  • Reducing inflammation
  • Purging of yeast
  • Detoxifying the liver
  • Internal cleansing with full-body purge
  • Liver, kidney, and parasite cleansing
  • Enhancing the immune system

The results and how it works

Before with water, spanish sea salt, and array (the metal device)

The ions in the foot bath water hold a charge that enables them bind to any heavy metals and toxins in your body, similar to how a magnet works.

After about 20 mins of my feet soaking -- the white bubbles started to form then Lala informed me that my lymphatic system needed some attention meaning I needed more movement like Yoga, Jump roping or walking. After the detox was over I felt very relaxed and my feet were super soft. It was amazing to see how many toxins were removed.

I highly recommend you check them out they offer a full menu of holistic services

Trap Yoga: The Experience

On Friday I had the time of my life at Trap Yoga led by Britteny aka Yoga Bae she is a certified instructor based in San Francisco and currently on tour and I was able to take her class while she was in Atlanta. I know you are asking yourself what is Trap Yoga? Its the perfect blend of Trap and Zen. Yoga Bae teaches vinyasa yoga that is infused with trap music. The word “vinyasa” can be translated as “arranging something in a special way,”  in vinyasa yoga classes you coordinate movement with breath to flow from one pose to the next. I'm providing you my cliff-notes to my experience because I want you to go out and check out the class for yourself below are my top five reasons why you should bless yourself and your mind!

  1. It's LIT AF! - The musical selection is perfectly curated to bring out the inner trapper in you.
  2. She is LIT AF! - Britteny aka Yoga Bae is a breathe of fresh air; she is authentic and genuine her energy radiates the perfect mix of positivity and west coast flavor.
  3. Ratchet Affirmations- no spoilers here you have to check out the class to get 'em
  4.  Self- Care- I love how she create a space where attendees are comfortable, then she spits knowledge; the importance of self-care, learning to rest and detach from negative things and people.
  5.  Community- After the class, there are a variety of vendors on site. I love to support other black owned businesses. I picked up me a Sucker Free Yogi cropped Tee.

Benefits of Oolong Tea

It’s so incredible how you can grow a single tea plant Camellia sinensis and get the benefits of various herbal teas with different processing methods. There are black, green and white teas which are all good for health in a number of different ways, and then there is Oolong which can offer you some really natural and nifty ways to lose weight. Let’s see what makes this tea different from its cousins:

Metabolism- Oolong tea is 157% more effective in burning fat, in comparison to green tea. Consuming 2 cups of Oolong tea every day ups the metabolism and helps in weight reduction. It blocks the various fattening effects that carbohydrates have. The minute your metabolism increases; your body starts burning fat at a much faster rate

Fat Shedding- Oolong tea complements a healthy diet. For all those who wonder why their so-called low fat diet does not help them lose weight- adding oolong tea as a daily drink helps in fat burning. Some people consume fat burning supplements. These are not something you can have on a regular basis. In addition, they are also unhealthy as they are not natural. On the other hand, oolong tea prevents the fat from assimilating in the body and helps you lose weight the natural way

Belly Fat Loss-  In most cases, people find it very difficult to lose belly fat and those who lead sedentary lives find that this can pile on at an alarming rate. But drinking oolong on a daily basis is a great way of helping your body cut down on fat and also keeps the cholesterol levels in check.

Adding to your routine

Though there are some distinctive benefits to drinking Oolong Tea, it is also important to understand that just drinking a cup full of tea right through the day is not going to help you lose weight by itself. This will happen only if you control your urge to eat excessively heavy food and ensure that you get some form of regular exercise.

At the end of the day, the body is like a machine and the fuel that you put into it will decide how it will function. So, give it all the help you can and also ensure that you are consuming foods that are rich in vitamins and that you are staying away from excessive sweets and oily foods. If someone tells you that just cutting back on certain foods will help you lose weight- that is a fallacy.

But when you have a natural method like drinking oolong tea to complement all your other weight loss efforts, it can truly do wonders for you. In addition to helping you lose weight, it also helps in removing toxins from your body. Above all you can still feel rejuvenated and refreshed through the day. This is why Oolong tea is counted amongst the best slimming tea in the world.

10 easy tips for living a healthier lifestyle

Adopting a healthy lifestyle is easier than you think! In my 20's I never understood the importance of watching what I ate or even considering a workout regimen but now that I am in my 30's I have made some simple changes that started with me investing 10 minutes a day being active that yielded amazing results -- increased energy, better moods and more.

Here are some easy tips that I use!

1. Think positive: Research shows a healthy positive attitude helps build a healthier immune system and boosts overall health. Your body believes what you think, so focus on the positive

2. Stay hydrated: Water makes up two-thirds of the body and performs a plethora of functions, including acting as a solvent, carrier of nutrients, temperature regulator and body detoxifier.

3. Walk regularly Aerobic exercise, including something as uncomplicated and low-impact as walking, is associated with a variety of benefits for the body and the brain, including a reduced risk of chronic diseases, anti-anxiety and mood-enhancing effects.

4. Exercise daily:  If you want to live well and live longer, you must exercise! Studies show that even 10 minutes of exercise makes a difference — so do something! I recently went back to my childhood roots and started back jump roping because its an great workout for total-body toning and cardio.

5.Get a good night's sleep: If you have trouble sleeping, try relaxation techniques such as meditation and yoga. Or eat a small bedtime snack of foods shown to help shift the body and mind into sleep mode: whole grain cereal with milk, oatmeal, cherries or chamomile tea.

6. Stretch in the Morning: Instead of snoozing in the morning, you can use your time more wisely. Stretch your back, your legs, your neck. It will wake your body from sleep. Stretching in the morning increases blood flow to your muscles providing an extra shot of oxygen and preparing them for a new day.

7. Eat your vegetables: Aim for five servings of vegetables a day — raw, steamed, or stir-fried. A diet high in vegetables is associated with a reduced risk of developing cancers of the lung, colon, breast, cervix, esophagus, stomach, bladder, pancreas and ovary.

8. Add Healthy Snacks Alternatives: Instead of reaching for a Snickers or Chips now I eat dried fruits and granola bars etc.

9. Eat Mindfully: Limit saturated fats and trans fats, and aim to eat more foods rich in anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids to cut your risk of cardiovascular disease and maybe even improve depressed moods. Adding up to 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed and eating meat, milk and cheese from grass-fed animals will provide you with a healthy dose of omega-3s.

10. Find New Activities: Pick up a new activity involving the whole family and/or friends such as hiking, group sports, skiing or riding a bicycle. Finding a hobby can give you enjoyment and reduce stress.

I hope these tips will help you and I also wanted to invite you out to a special event that Walmart is hosting on October 10th from noon to 4pm. America's Biggest Health Fair will take place in more than 4,400 stores across the U.S. During the event, stores that have pharmacies will offer customers the opportunity to receive FREE blood glucose, blood pressure, vision screenings, as well as immunizations administered by Walmart's more than 30,000 licensed pharmacists. The Honey Pot || All Natural Feminine Wash

The Honey Pot Lavender feminine wash is an amazing product and I'm happy they selected me to be one of the bloggers to help get the word out about The Honey Pot and their mission.

About the Product: Bacterial vaginosis (BV) and yeast infections are two of the most common vaginal infections, and both these infections can be brought about by slight fluctuations in the vagina’s pH levels. Furthermore, ordinary things like your period and even bubble baths are enough to disrupt those pH levels and open the floodgates to bacteria, infection and discomfort.

The Honey Pot Lavender feminine wash is designed to help restore/maintain pH balance and keep bad bacteria and candida in check. THP Lavender feminine wash is made with organic plant-based ingredients to provide a gentle cleaning experience. Each ingredient was chosen with precision and care to address common female issues, such as infection, drying/lubrication, odor and more. But even if you don’t suffer from chronic infections, THP Lavender makes a great daily wash and is especially ideal for use on your period and after sex.

My Review: All the ingredients I can pronounce and I love that. I recently mentioned in another post that I'm becoming more aware of what is in the products I use on a daily basis. The Honey Pot Lavender is soothing and isn't harsh and leaves you refreshed after using. I definitely recommend trying this product out.

Tom's of Maine: Natural Toothpaste & Deodorant

As I get older I become more concerned with the ingredients in the products that I use on a daily basis. I've been doing research on Fluoride and despite what everyone says its not good for your teeth at all. I switched from using Crest Toothpaste to Tom's of Maine Fluoride-Free Antiplaque & Whitening Toothpaste the peppermint flavor is refreshing and I'm happy I made the switch because my teeth aren't as sensitive as they were before and I can pronounce the ingredients and you can also visit the Tom's of Maine website and they will break down each item in the product.

Since the toothpaste was so awesome I recently purchased the Deodorant. I'm no health expert but I thought I would share these products because living a healthy lifestyle is the goal and Tom's of Maine makes it that much easier.

Dr. Rachael Ross, Demetria L. Lucas, Jacque Reid, Eva Marcille, and Naturi Naughton Participate in OraQuick’s 'Life. As We Know It' Panel at Spelman College

Spelman College, in conjunction with the Reed for Hope Foundation and OraQuick, presented a relationship panel on October 22, 2013 to explore dating, relationships and sexual health. The goal of the panel,  is part of OraQuick’s “Life. As We Know It.” campaign and Reed for Hope Foundation’s LoveHealthy initiative, is to provide insight through real dialogue to encourage healthy relationships and promote responsibility as it relates to sexual health.

The “Life. As We Know It.” campaign was designed to encourage students and attendees to get tested and be aware of their status for conditions like sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV, breast cancer, and blood pressure, which disproportionately affect the African-American community, especially women.

With the OraQuick In-Home HIV Test, you can take the first step toward learning your HIV status. Find out in just 20 minutes in the comfort and privacy of your own home. I really enjoyed this panel and I'm glad these phenomenal women are taking the time to speak to our youth about this important issue.

Before the panel I was able to get a statement from Eva Marcille: Reed For Hope Ambassador check out the audio below:
