M.A.C Cosmetics x Marge Simpson Collection

The Collection will be available online on Aug. 28, and in stores on Sept. 4.  At the end of the month, Comic-Con attendees will be able to purchase with a one-day sale and sneak peek of the Marge Simpson-inspired collection taking place on Saturday, July 26, at the MAC Cosmetics store in the Gaslamp District (234 Fifth Avenue, San Diego.

M∙A∙C Cosmetics announces collaboration with Brazilian fashion designer Pedro Lourenço

The young Brazilian designer has been picked by MAC for the brand's next designer collaboration to create a limited-edition color cosmetics collection that will launch next summer. “Pedro organically understands and relates to the MAC Cosmetics DNA and beautifully interprets the Brazilian woman’s polished yet effortless style through this collaboration,” said James Gager, creative director of MAC Cosmetics. The color collection will include lip color, eye shadow, cream color bases, nail polish and powder blush duos.

Learn how to get Red Carpet Red Lips with Tips from Gregory Arlt

Awards season is here! Director of Makeup Artistry Gregory Arlt's directive is: "Nothing says red carpet glamour like a perfect red lip."
 
Take his tips to your next glamorous soirée:

Hydrate
Make sure your lips are completely moisturized and smooth before applying red lipstick. Before makeup, apply Lip Conditioner to the lips. By the time you finish your makeup, the balm should have absorbed and your lipstick will be ready to apply.

Prep
Should you have an issue with lipstick "bleeding," begin the lip application process by using Prep + Prime Lip around the edges of the lips. It will ensure the lipstick stays on longer and in place.

Line
Use Lip Pencil to get a well defined lip. Use a pencil that matches the red lipstick you choose to wear as it will give the most defined version of a red lip. Cherry, Brick, and Mahogany are popular shades to "anchor" colour longer.

Colour
Red lipstick goes on most precisely with a lip brush. Apply M·A·C classics MAC Red, Lady Danger, Ruby Woo, or Dare You with a 316 Lip Brush using the flat edge to get into the liner and make it appear undetectable.

Rihanna teams up with M·A·C Cosmetics

After Rihanna made the announcement yesterday on instagram, I took to the web to find out more details about this awesome collaboration. The first product to drop will be a lipstick dubbed RiRi Woo, which was inspired by MAC's Ruby Woo, Rihanna's favorite shade. MAC will release the shade to coincide with the Grammy winner's stint at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on March 4 and 5, as part of her Diamonds Tour. MAC Cosemtics will open a pop-up shop at the March 4 show to showcase the line. RiRi Woo will be sold at Rihanna's concerts as well as online and in conjunction with all four collections

RiRi Hearts MAC will roll out a Summer collection online, a Fall collection in stores, and an on-counter holiday collection. "I get to play," Rihanna said. "There's so much to choose from, and you can mix different colors and different greens in different eye shadows. . . . Every detail is important."

Along with RiRi Woo lipstick, the collections will also include a bevy of their own products, from additional lipsticks and false eyelashes - which the singer likes to wear "two pairs at a time," according to MAC's senior vice president of global product development, Jennifer Balbier - to eye shadow palettes and blush duos. MAC has actually gone as far as to name Rihanna a "creative partner" as opposed to the oft-used "collaborator."

“When I was researching this collection and when I was researching her and going in deep about her makeup secrets, I read that she and her makeup artist would collaborate and do like five or six different reds—like one deeper on the outer edge of her mouth, another one in the center just to make her lips look really dimensional. They'd overdraw her lip to make it look more sexy.” - Gregory Arlt

“I found out she would use Vaseline all over her face, under her makeup, before she went on camera because it gave her a glow that she really liked. She also used this sort of like hormone cream that made her skin tighter, but the hormones in it actually gave her quite a bit of peach fuzz on her face. The director would try to get her to remove it, but she insisted on keeping it because she thought it gave her a nice sort of a fuzzy glow around her face to make her look more ethereal. And it worked! You know, we all think of her using black eyeliner, but she actually used a dark brown eyeliner and used a white pencil on the inside of her eye to make her eye look larger.”- Gregory Arlt
