GET THE LOOK: ABC Black-ish Yara Shahidi for Teen Choice Awards 2015

Yara is currently wearing box braids so hair stylist Tiffany Daugherty decided to go with something up but still young and fun for the Teen Choice Awards 2015.

She started by using Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Shampoo & Conditioner. Black Castor Oil's rich omega oil content has reparative benefits for the hair and scalp, and this allows Yara's hair and scalp to remain healthy while wearing a protective style.

Once her hair was dried, using the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Scalp Serum I oiled the scalp all over and gently massaged the scalp. Healthy scalp = healthy hair

The 2015 Teen Choice Awards was the perfect platform for a fresh, clean face for Yara Shahidi. Thanks to Shea Moisture, makeup artist Brandy Allen created a beautiful and vivid look to match her colorful wardrobe.

First, I wanted to choose the right eye-shadow shade that was age appropriate and red carpet pretty. I chose the smokey night palette. even though the name seems more mature, there was a soft pink that complimented the cool colors in her dress.

I then concentrated on her skin, using Sheer Foundation in Toffee and a foundation brush first to cover and balance any marks. Then I used a fluffy brush to blend and sheer down her foundation to a healthy, natural skin finish.

For her cheeks, I took the blush in the smokey palette and added her lipstick color 'Roberta' with my thumbs on her cheeks. When doing this, it's great to work the product in with your fingers so it melts in her skin and has a fresh, semi-dewy finish.

Lastly, because she's still a teenager I wanted this look to be consumer friendly and  easy to replicate at home. I wanted her natural lips to have minimal to no coverage but a hint of hot pink. So, I used Shea Moisture's lip stain in 'Nicola' and finished with its complimenting clear gloss.
